Jaspreet Gill is the Executive Director at the York Region Centre for Community Safety (YRCCS), a multi-service hub that enhances coordinated service delivery for individuals and their children who have experienced intimate partner violence, family violence, and human trafficking. 

 

Jaspreet spent most of her career in academia as an Adjunct Professor in the departments of English and humanities at York University, where she specialized in Postcolonial, Renaissance, and South Asian studies, with a focus on the intersection of race and gender.

 

Jaspreet has contributed chapters to the published books Subaltern Vision: A Study in Postcolonial Indian English Text and 
SRK and Global Bollywood

 

In 2015, she made the transition to the social services sector to work in the area of violence against women. Jaspreet currently serves on the board of directors of Community Living York South, where she was previously board president. She also volunteers as a member of the board of directors for Sampradaya Dance Creations, and sits on the advisory committee of the Red Dot Project.
