Alison is a dynamic and engaging leader with over 15 years experience working in social services. She has expertise in mental health, addictions, gender-based violence, sexual violence, acquired brain injury, trauma, people living with HIV/AIDS, and extensive experience in child welfare. Alison has worked with, for, and on various Board of Directors in the non-profit sector, leading to an understanding of board structure, responsibility and governance. Alison is a skilled and experienced trainer with expertise in engaging people in crucial conversations to facilitate learning.


Alison’s passion lies in bringing diversity, equity and inclusion into as many spaces as possible. She specializes in helping white people confront their own privilege and understand their critical role is dismantling whiteness and white supremacy. Alison strives to be a good ally and knows this is a lifelong journey and commitment. She is skilled at building capacity in others to champion equity.


Alison was born and raised in the Kawarthas and is proud to call Nogojiwanong/Peterborough her home. She and her partner are raising two kids, a very senior pug named Winston, and their chickens.


Alison is a registered Social Worker who loves learning, and has made personal growth and development a lifelong commitment. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Brock University, a Social Service Worker diploma from Fleming College, a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ryerson University, and she is currently a master's of social work candidate at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
